STEM: What is it?

The acronym STEM represents Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics.

Areas of study which fall under this umbrella can include: Agricultural Science, Biology, Human and Social Biology, Building Technology, Chemistry, Physics, Electrical & Electronic Technology, Geography, Industrial Technology, Information Technology, Additional Mathematics, Integrated Science, Mechanical Engineering Technology and Technical Drawing.

Sustainability: What is it?

Sustainability is being able to meet the needs of current generations without compromising the needs of the future generations. What on earth does that mean? For us it means enjoying life in a way where people, our surroundings and the economy exist in harmony for generations to come.

That means low impact on the environment, quality life for everyone, and a prosperous economy. How awesome would that be?

Student Program for Innovation in Science and Engineering (SPISE)

Student Program for Innovation in Science and Engineering (SPISE) has a busy 4-week schedule comprising classes in calculus, physics, biochemistry, humanities (one Caribbean Concept) and Mandarin, as well as laboratory project work in electronics and robotics. This is a Caribbean Science Foundation program held at the University of the West Indies in Barbados.

Halls of Learning is a Jamaican-based organization dedicated to empowering the lives of people through education. Inspired in part, by Marcus Garvey’s actions as a ‘man of learning’, Halls of Learning is committed to provide the highest quality educational experiences for young people, equal to, or exceeding international standards.

The Caribbean Youth Science Forum (CYSF) is a residential educational programme for developing young scientists and engineers from the Caribbean region. Held annually during the August vacation period, the forum caters specifically to lower sixth form students

The Discovery Education 3M Young Scientist Challenge is a science competition for grades 5-8 in the United States of America. This one-of-a-kind video competition has sparked the imaginations of hundreds of thousands of students and enhanced science exploration, innovation and communication across the USA.
